TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's tennis team defeated Moravian University 8-1 on Senior Day in a Landmark Conference matchup Sunday afternoon at the Schroedl Tennis Center. The Gophers were edged 5-4 by Harford Community College in the nightcap.
- Goucher (6-5, 3-0 Landmark) dropped just two sets in doubles against the Greyhounds (6-5, 1-2)
- Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) and Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
- Angel Cerpa (El Paso, Texas/Americas) and Joshua Noel (Ennis, Texas/Ennis) prevailed 8-0 at No. 2.
- Ryan Wartenberg (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) and Zach Klein (Bethesda, Md./Bullis) were 8-0 winners at No. 3.
- Kane won in straight sets at No. 1 singles while Noel prevailed in straight sets at No. 4 singles.
- Adebamgbe was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 2 while Cerpa was victorious 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.
- Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5.
- Adebamgbe and Kane were 8-5 winners at No. 1 doubles, while Cerpa and Noel prevailed 8-6 at No. 3.
- After the Owls took the first two singles points to go up 3-2, Wartenberg was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at No. 6 singles to the tie match 3-3.
- Harford went up 4-3 at Noel fell in a second-set tiebreak at No. 4 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
- Nguyen tied the match 4-4 when he was a 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) victor at No. 5 singles.
- Cerpa forced a third set and battled for the point and the match before falling at No. 3 6-1, 2-6, 6-3.
- Goucher and Drew are tied atop the Landmark Conference standings at 3-0.
- The Gophers have won three straight not counting the exhibition loss to the Owls, an NJCAA member.
- Prior to the Harford match, the Gophers honored seniors Adebamgbe and Kane.
- Goucher steps out of conference Wednesday when it travels to Gettysburg for a 4 pm match.
- The Gophers return home Wednesday, April 20, when they host Catholic and McDaniel starting at 3:30 pm.
