ORLANDO - The Goucher College men's tennis team opened up its spring break trip with an 8-1 setback to Hobart at the USTA National Training Center on Sunday afternoon.
- Goucher (3-4) dropped all three doubles matches to the Statesmen (3-3).
- Calis Nguyen and Gabe Naftoly dropped an 8-3 decision at No. 1.
- Benedikt Rummel recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
- Unai Laguardia Alvarez forced a third set at No. 1 before falling 6-0, 3-6, 10-1.
- Angel Cerpa alos took his Hobart opponent to a third set before dropping a 6-2, 5-7, 10-8 contest.
- Rummel picked up his first win at No. 6 singles this season.
- Goucher takes on Hamilton at 3 pm Monday in Orlando.
- The next Gopher home match is slated for Wednesday, March 27 when Goucher hosts Catholic in a 3:30 contest at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
