Gophers Edge Out Eagles in Local Matchup

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Goucher College Gophers (5-3 Overall; 1-0 Conference) traveled to face local college, Coppin State Eagles (0-4 Overall). The Gophers pulled out the win 4-3, which came down to the No. 5 singles match.
- The Gophers secured the doubles point winning in the No. 2 and 3 pairings.
- At the No. 2 doubles, George King and Guilherme Moraes battled to pull out the 6-4 victory over their opponents.
- Jackson Beam and Tadeo Asprella finished off their opponents in a 6-1 match.
- In the No. 1 singles, Gabe Naftoly, battled to a third set before pulling out the victory, winning the first 6-4, dropping the next 0-6, and winning in a tiebreak 7-6.
- Asprella secured the victory in the No. 2 singles, winning in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.
- In the No. 5 singles, Moraes secured the victory for the Gophers after rallying back from dropping the first set, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
- King forced a third set with his opponents as well, but ultimatley dfell 5-7, 6-3, 2-6.
- This secures the fourth straight win for the Gophers.
- Moraes and Asprella extend their singles victories to four straight.
- The No. 2 and No. 3 doubles pairings ecure their third victories of the season.
- The men travel to face Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday, March 12 at 3pm.
- They return home to face Lycoming and Harford Community College on Saturday, March 22nd with the first match beginning at 1pm.
