Gophers Fall Short in Close Match with Bears

BALTIMORE, MD- Goucher hosted Ursinus in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday afternoon. The Gophers lost in a close competition with the Bears, losing 4-3. 

No. 3 doubles consisting of Daniel Gigatti and Ian Hewes lost to Ursinus, 6-1. The No. 2 team, Guilhereme Moraes and Carlo Cermeno Cortes won their match against Ursinus, 6-3. No. 1 team consisting of Gabe Naftoly and Benedikt Rummel beat Ursinus with a score of 6-4. 

No. 5 and No. 6 were the first two singles matches to finish. No. 6 Lucas Lucena lost to Ursinus (6-2, 6-2). No. 5 Cermeno Cortes lost to Ursinus, (6-1, 6-1). No. 4 Hewes lost his match to Ursinus (4-6, 4-2). No. 2 Rummel lost (6-1, 6-3) to Ursinus. No. 1 Naftoly won his match against Ursinus, (6-3, 6-2). No. 3 singles was the last match to finish. Moraes won (7-5, 6-3). 

The Gophers return to action at home on Tuesday, October 14th at 4pm.
