Gophers Sweep Seahawks
ST. MARY'S CITY, MD- The Goucher College Gophers (2-2 overall) defeated the Seahawks of St. Mary's College of Maryland (1-3 overall) on Saturday afternoon. The Gophers won the contest, 7-0.
The Gophers opened up the match sweeping in doubles, after the No. 1 team consisting of Gabe Naftoly and Benedikt Rummel won 6-2. The No. 2 team of Tadeo Asprella and Ian Hewes won 6-2. The Gophers closed out doubles with a 6-0 win from No. 3 partners Guilherme Moraes and George King.
Goucher also swept singles with No. 1 Naftoly winning (6-0, 6-1). No. 2 Asprella defeated the Seahawks (6-0, 6-3). In the No. 3 singles, Rummel won (6-4, 6-1). Moraes defeated St. Mary's (6-1, 6-2) in the No. 4 singles match. In No. 5 singles, King beat his opponent (6-2, 6-0). The contest was rounded out by No. 6 Hewes holding his opponent scoreless for a (6-0, 6-0) victory
The Gophers are back in action on Monday, March 9th to take on Methodist.
