Gophers Finish Regular Season With 4-0 Win Over Rangers
BALTIMORE, MD - The Goucher College Gophers (11-6 overall, 7-2 conference) hosted the Drew University Rangers (10-8 overall, 6-3 conference) in a conference match-up on Saturday afternoon. The Gophers clinched a 4-0 victory over the Rangers to round out regular-season play.
The match started with the Gophers winning the doubles point. Gabe Naftoly and Tadeo Asprella teamed up to take on No. 1 singles. The Rangers defeated Naftoly and Asprella 6-2. In No. 2 doubles, Lucas Lucena and Ian Hewes won their match 6-3. Guilherme Moraes and George King swept their No. 3 doubles match, 6-0.
Moraes was the first to finish singles. He took on the Rangers in No. 3 singles, winning 6-4, 6-0. No. 1 singles were the next match to finish. Naftoly won his first set 6-4 and his second set 6-2. Asprella clinched the 4-0 win, winning the No. 2 singles match 6-4 in both sets.
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Gophers will return to action on Wednesday, April 29, to host the number six seed in the first round of the Landmark Conference Playoffs. Additional details will be released as they become available.
