Freshman Establishes Indoor High Jump Record

Litz Clears 14' Again, Places First in Pole Vault Competition

CARLISLE, Pa. — One indoor school record was established and another was tied by athletes representing Goucher at today's Dickinson Invitational.

Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) was responsible for the new record as he turned in a performance of 5-feet, 10-inches to finish in third place in the high jump. The freshman also placed third in the 55-meter dash (:06.76) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (:24.38).

Scott Wenzler (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) placed third in the long jump and fifth in the high jump. The sophomore's effort of 20-feet, 6.50-inches in the long jump represents the second-best performance in that event in the history of Goucher's men's indoor track and field program; he cleared 5-feet, 4.25-inches in the high jump.

Just seven days after he became the first Goucher pole vaulter to clear 14-feet, Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) repeated that accomplishment and took first place in the event today, earning 10 points for the Gophers.

Although the Gophers secured points in only six of the meet's 15 events, they still finished with a team score of 37 points to wind up in fifth place and only four points behind Gettysburg.
