COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Goucher's Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) was the first runner in a field of 19 to cross the finish line in the 5,000 meters today at the Frank Colden Invitational.

Negreann's winning time of 15:36.67 was a personal best in the 5K for the junior, who also ran the opening leg on Goucher's entry that placed seventh overall in the 4 x 800-meter relay. That unit, which included Brian Gautier (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.), Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) and Andrew Gethins (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) posted a time of 9:02.89.

Doug Falk (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.) finished in a tie for fourth place in the high jump by clearing 6-feet; Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) placed fifth in the 800 meters and his time of 2:04.60 is identical to the indoor school record in the event established back in 2001 by Ryan Mease.

The Gophers placed ninth overall with a team score of 21.5 points.
