USTFCCCA Recognizes Goucher for Academic Achievement

Seventh Consecutive Year for Caslin's Women's Program

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Both of Goucher's track and field programs were recognized today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the academic accomplishments of the student-athletes in 2011-12.

To be designated an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA, the combined cumulative GPA of each of the student-athletes who competed for an institution during the indoor and/or outdoor season must be 3.10 or higher.

Goucher, with a cumulative team GPA of 3.30, was one of 137 Division III women's programs throughout the nation to earn the distinction. It's the seventh consecutive year in which head coach John Caslin's women's program has met the requirements to be an All-Academic Team.

For Caslin's men's program, which achieved a 3.16 cumulative team GPA, this is the first All-Academic Team award since 2006-07. There were a total of 74 Division III recipients, but Goucher was the only institution in the Landmark Conference to receive the honor from the USTFCCCA.
