Evans Crosses Finish Line First in 200-Meter Dash

Sixth-Place Finishes for Manta in Mile, Byrne in Sot Put

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Goucher's Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) placed first in a field of 31 Division III runners in the 200-meter dash tonight at the Muhlenberg Invitational.

Evans, who also took fifth place in the 55-meter dash, completed the 200 dash in 23.98 seconds, which is the eighth-fastest time for that event in the history of Goucher's men's indoor track and field program. He beat Sean Potter from Albright across the finish line by 11-hundredths of a second.

His time in the 55 dash: 6.76 seconds.

Goucher had two other individuals finish in eighth place or higher in an event during the non-scoring meet: Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) was clocked at 4:58.59 in the mile run, good for sixth place, and Christopher Byrne (Andover, Mass./Andover) placed eighth overall with his effort of 35'7 3/4" in the shot put.
