Gophers Open 2014-15 Season at Bow-Tie Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Goucher sent three competitors to the Bow Tie Classic, hosted by Ursinus College, to open up its 2014-15 indoor track & field season.

Eli Schwartz (Berkeley, Calif./Berkeley), competing in the 200 and 400-meter dash, came away with personal best performances in each of those races. Schwartz completed the 200 dash in 25.38, placing him second in his heat and 31st out of 49 runners overall. His previous top time at that distance had been 26.23 seconds at last year's Crusader Classic.

Later on in the afternoon, Schwartz posted a 56.16 in the 400 dash. That again ranked him second in his heat, and it was 1.68 seconds faster than his former top time in the event. He finished 33rd out of 49 runners overall.

Christian Ribeiro (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was the only other Gopher to register a score in an event. His top distance of 7.47 meters in the shot put slotted him in 43rd place, and it was also his furthest career throw at an indoor event.

Goucher returns to Ursinus for its next meet, the Collegeville Classic on Friday, January 23.
