TOWSON, MD — In the first race of his collegiate
career, freshman Brent Stanford (Columbia, MD/Long
Reach) broke the school record in the 100-meter dash today
at the Goucher College Track & Field Classic.
Stanford's time of :11.53 in the preliminaries stands as the
fastest in the history of Goucher's men's track and field program
and allowed him to move on to the finals, where he finished in
fourth place with his time of :11.75.
Stanford also placed third in the 200-meter dash and his time of
:23.75 ranks as the second-fastest all-time in program history.
Goucher, which earned 74 points in the team scoring to finish in
fourth place, didn't have any first-place performances today, but
Sean Mack (Albany, NY/Albany) and Harrison
Tucker (Clarksville, MD/Cairo American College) were
runners-up in the 1,500-meter run and 400-meter hurdles,
respectively. Mack completed his event in 4:15.16 to finish behind
Sean Allen from McDaniel (4:10.07); Tucker crossed the finish line
in :60.76 and the winning time posted by McDaniel's Chris Stinnette
was :58.17.
