TOWSON, MD — Goucher's Ray Burstein
(Needham, MA/Needham) captured first place in the hammer
throw and shot put today at the Goucher Warm-Up Meet.
The senior broke the outdoor school record with his winning effort
of 122-feet, 11-inches in the hammer throw. He achieved a distance
of 33-feet, 11.5-inches to place first in the shot put.
Goucher produced the top performer in three other individual events
and the distance medley relay. Zach Martin (Victor,
NY/Victor Central) and Harrison Tucker
(Clarksville, MD/Cario American College) crossed the
finish line first in the 5,000-meter run and 400-meter hurdles,
respectively. Martin completed the 5000 in 16:34.01; Tucker's
winning time in the 400 hurdles was 1:00.86.
Travis Boland (Athol, MA/Ralph C. Mahar) placed
first in the triple jump (38-feet, 6.25-inches and second in the
100-meter dash (:12.01) and long jump (18-feet, 4-inches).
Goucher's victorious distance medley relay team was comprised of
Matt Spitznagel (Parkton, MD/Friends School of
Baltimore), Tucker, Sean Mack (Albany,
NY/Albany) and Leon Davis (Medfield,
MA/Medfield), and the winning time was 11:42.62.
In the final team scoring, Goucher (73 points) was third behind
Hood (113) and Howard Community (93).
