TOWSON, Md. - Adam Scipione (Walpole, MA/Walpole) broke Goucher's outdoor record in the 3,000-meter run today, doing it in Gopher Stadium at the Goucher College Track & Field Classic.
The freshman completed the event in 9:50.73, good for seventh place.
Goucher had an individual place as high as second in an event and a relay as high as third. Chris Litz (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) was runner-up in the pole vault competition as he successfully cleared 11-feet, 5-.75-inches, and the 4 x 400-meter relay of Steven Tenure (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury), Will Schleichert (Boyds, MD/Sandy Spring Friends School), Charlie Rooney (Sea Bright, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) and Brendan Ference (Smallwood, NY/Monticello) placed third with its time of 3:45.14.
Zach Martin (Victor, NY/Victor Central) and Tenure both scored in an individual event for the Gophers: Martin placed fourth overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (12:11.43) and Tenure was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.77).
Goucher finished in eighth place in the team standings with 19 points.
