Evans, Litz Set New School Records, Finish in First Place

Goucher's Entry in Sprint Medley Relay Places Third, Breaks School Record

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Record-breaking performances landed Goucher's Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) and Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) in first place in the high jump and pole vault competitions, respectively, at the Battleground Relays, which concluded today.

Evans was awarded first place in the high jump as one of three individuals who were successful at 5-feet, 10-inches. The previous outdoor school record in the event was 5-feet, 8-inches.

Litz eclipsed his own outdoor school record by clearing 13-feet, 11.75-inches to win the pole vault competition.

A third school record fell today when Goucher's sprint medley relay team of Evans, Litz, Steven Tenure (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) and Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) recorded a time of 3:43.30, which landed the quartet in third place.

Goucher's entry in the 4 x 800-meter relay placed fifth with its time of 8:45.00, which ranks second all-time in that event in the history of the school's outdoor track and field program. Running for the Gophers were Scipione, Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School), Andrew Gethins (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) and Tenure.

Evans placed fifth overall in the 100-meter dash (:11.60) and Lovell Kosh (Chester, Pa./Christiana) became only the second individual in program history to surpass 35-feet in the shot put when he registered an effort of 35-feet, 10-inches to take fifth place.
