Litz Raises School Record in Pole Vault to 15-Feet
GETTYSBURG, Pa. Goucher's Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) set new school and meet records today by successfully clearing 15-feet in the pole vault competition at the Mason-Dixon Invitational.
Martin Finishes in Fourth Place in Steeplechase, 5,000-Meter Run
GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Goucher's Chris Litz (Bel Air,
Md./John Carroll) set new school and meet records today by
successfully clearing 15-feet in the pole vault competition at the
Mason-Dixon Invitational.
The junior's first-place and record-setting performance came one week after he became the first pole vaulter in the history of Goucher's track and field program to clear 14-feet outdoors, doing it at the Messiah Invitational. The former Mason-Dixon Invitational record of 14-feet, 3.25-inches was established in 2005 by Jonathan Brallier from Franklin & Marshall.
Goucher, which placed sixth overall in the team scoring with 48 points, produced the fourth-place finisher in four events: Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) in the 200-meter dash (:23.61), Steven Tenure (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.31) and Zach Martin (Victor, N.Y./Victor Central) in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:29.87) and the 5,000-meter run (16:24.21).
Evans also crossed the finish line in the 100-meter dash in sixth place with a time of :11.42. Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) was next to finish after Martin in the steeplechase as posted a time of 11:05.25.
Scott Wenzler (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) placed fifth in the long jump (18-feet, 7.75-inches) and Andrew Gethins (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) recorded a distance of 36-feet, 5.5-inches in the triple jump, good for fifth place.
Goucher's entry in the 4 x 400-meter relay of Tenure, Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole), Wenzler and Phelan Shea (Cambridge, Mass./Oliverian School) took sixth place (3:46.17).
