Martin Sets New School Record in 3,000-Meter Run
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Goucher's Zachary Martin (Victor, N.Y./Victor Central) set a new school record in the 3,000-meter run when he placed fourth in that event on Friday at the Battlrground Relays. He came back today with a fifth-place performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Goucher's Zachary Martin
(Victor, N.Y./Victor Central) set a new school record in
the 3,000-meter run when he placed fourth in that event on Friday
at the Battlrground Relays. He came back today with a fifth-place
performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The new record established by Martin in the 3K is 9:42.75. He completed the steeplechase in 10:56.60.
Goucher had one individual and one relay place as high as third at the two-day meet, which concluded today. The third-place performance by an individual was delivered by Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) in the pole vault competition where he cleared 12-feet, 6-inches. The quartet of Steven Tenure (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury), Scott Wenzler (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck), Tade Ade-Turton (Ocean City, Md./Parkside) and Charlie Rooney (Sea Bright, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) finished third in the sprint medley relay with its time of 3:54.36.
Tenure placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.41) and Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (4:19.14) today.
In the 4 x 400-meter relay, Goucher entry that included Tenure, Ade-Turton, Rooney and Scipione placed fourth with its time of 3:35.29, only 6-hundredths of a second behind third-place York. Goucher relays also placed fifth in the 4 x 800-meter race (10:56.60) and sixth in the distance medley (12:13.78).
