Landmark's Weekly Honor Goes to Cooney, Gautier

MADISON, N.J. — Goucher produced two of the 13 recipients of Player of the Week honors from the Landmark Conference that were announced today and cover the seven-day period beginning March 7. Both compete in outdoor track and field.
Abby Cooney (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) was named Female Athlete of the Week for field events after placing first in two throwing events at the York Relays on Saturday. One of her first-place performances was in the discus throw, where her top effort of the meet was 93-feet, 9-inches, and the other was in the hammer throw, where she topped out at 114-feet, 10-inches.
In addition, she placed fourth in the shot put (30-feet, 11.75-inches).
Brian Gautier (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.), who placed first in the 400-meter dash and was on Goucher's victorious entry in the 4 x 200-meter relay at the York Relays, was recognized as the Male Athlete of the Week for track events.
The freshman's winning time in the 400 was :52.78; he ran the second leg for Goucher in the 4 x 200, helping to set a new outdoor school record of 1:35.56 in the event.
