HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Goucher's Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) was the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run at today's Juniata Invitational, but it was in another event in which he placed third overall that the senior set a new outdoor school record.
Negreann completed the 3,000 meter-run in 9:21.70, good for third place behind Juniata's Ceth Parker (8:41.42) and Susquehanna's Paul Crowe (8:56.65), but he shaved nearly nine seconds off the school record of 9:30.64 established last season by Adam Scipione.
Negreann's time in the 1500 meters was 4:11.98.
Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) placed third in the 5,000 meters as he crossed the finish line in 16:50.29, and Doug Falk (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.) took third in the high jump by clearing 5'10".
Although he placed fourth overall in the 400-meter dash, Goucher's Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) was the top collegiate entrant in the event. The sophomore was clocked at 51.43 seconds.
The Gophers earned 41 points to finish in fifth place in the team scoring.
