Manta Runs Goucher's Second-Fastest 3000 Steeplechase
TOWSON, Md. — Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) turned in the second-fastest time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the history of Goucher's men's outdoor track and field program to finish as runner-up in the event today at the Towson Invitational.
Lehmer, Gethins Place 5-6 Behind Manta in Same Event
TOWSON, Md. — Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) turned in the second-fastest time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in the history of Goucher's men's outdoor track and field program to finish as runner-up in the event today at the Towson Invitational.
Manta, who finished in 10:26.92, placed second behind only Salisbury's Chris Sufczyski (10:21.48). Zach Martin holds the school record of 10:19.63 in the steeplechase, setting it on March 27, 2010.
The Gophers had two other competitors in the event: Charlie Lehmer (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) in fifth place with his time of 11:42.10 and Andrew Gethins (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) in sixth (11:56.52).
Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) placed sixth in the 5,000-meter run as he completed the event in 15:57.84.
