Negreann Breaks Stadium Record in 10,000-Meter Run

TOWSON, Md. — Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) turned in the only first-place performance for the host school at the Goucher Track & Field Classic today.
The senior was the first to cross the finish line in the 10,000-meter run and he broke the Gopher Stadium record with his winning time of 32:26.80. The runner-up in the event was Quincy Schmidt from Mary Washington and he was clocked at 33:58.30.
Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) came within one-hundredth of a second of tying the school record in the 100-meter dash when he posted a time of 11.07 seconds during the trials. He qualified for the finals where he finished in fourth place with a time of 11.12 seconds.
The Gophers also took fourth place in the 3,000-meter run as Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) completed the event in 9:29.45. Andrew Southworth (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) also scored in the 3,000 meters, placing seventh overall with his time of 9:57.92.
Doug Falk (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.) cleared 5'10 3/4" to place seventh in the high jump and Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash (:52.78).
With a team score of 26 points, the Gophers finished in a tie with Mary Washington for ninth place.
