Gophers Open Cardinal Classic with Multiple Top-25 Finishes
LANDOVER, MD- The Gophers competed at the Cardinal Classic at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex. The track and field meet was hosted by Catholic University of America, a Landmark Conference institution.
Freshman Joel Lukoo finished in the top 25 of the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.73. Dawson Burnett-Paul placed in the top 15 of the 5,000-meter run, recording a time of 20:25.76. Jermaine Horsey also earned a top 25 finish in the 60-meter preliminaries, running a 7.41. The Gophers continued to place among the top competitors as Antoine Padonou recorded a time of 2:28.56 in the 800-meter race, finishing in the top 25. Rounding out the Gophers was Robert Lamb with a top 40 finish in the 200-meter with a time of 25.68.
The Gophers were scheduled to return to action on Jan. 31 at the Widener Schuylkill Showcase, with events set to begin at 10 a.m.
