Relays and Distance Lead Gophers’ Effort
SELINSGROVE, PA- The Gophers competed in a full slate of events, highlighted by strong relay, distance, and field performances.
The men's 4x200 relay team of Joel Lukoo, Willie Lamb, Antoine Padonou, and Mark Martin earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:38.47. The same quartet also competed in the 4x400 relay, finishing inside the top 12.
Individually, Padonou posted a personal-best performance in the 60-meter hurdles, recording a top-20 finish with a time of 9.34. In distance events, Jayden Keels delivered a seventh-place finish in the 3000-meter, crossing the line in 9:22.38. Keels followed that effort with a top-12 finish in the mile at 4:42.47. Dawson Burnett-Paul also competed in the mile, finishing in 5:35.09, and later added a top-25 finish in the 3000-meter.
In the sprints, Lukoo recorded a top-25 finish in the 400-meter with a time of 55.89, while Padonou followed close behind at 58.84. In the 800-meter, Lamb placed inside the top 16 with a time of 2:06.52, and Jair Smith secured a top-20 finish, running 2:06.93.
Field action saw Martin earn a top-10 finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.22 meters.
The Gophers return to competition on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championship, hosted at Susquehanna University.
