Martin Breaks His Own School Record at McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, MD- The Goucher College Men's Track and Field team traveled to McDaniel College to compete in the Carpenter-Case Invite on Friday afternoon.
In the field events, Mark Martin led the way by winning the triple jump with a personal-best distance of 13.63 meters, surpassing his own school record of 13.44 meters that was set in 2023. Martin continued his strong day with another first-place finish in the long jump, posting a season-best mark of 6.69 meters. Antoine Padonou added a fifth-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.35.
On the track, Dawson Burnett-Paul recorded a personal-best time of 11:58.76 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, earning a fourth-place finish. In the 1,500-meter run, Jayden Keels claimed first place with a time of 4:05.72. He was joined by Jair Smith, who ran a season-best 4:14.83 to finish third. Padonou also competed in the 1,500-meter, finishing 12th with a time of 5:03.73. Padonou added another podium finish in the 110-meter hurdles, placing third with a time of 19.38. In the 400-meter dash, Joel Lukoo earned fifth place with a time of 53.18. Willie Lamb represented the Gophers in the 400-meter hurdles, securing a fourth-place finish with a personal-best time of 58.05. He was joined by Padonou, who placed ninth with a time of 1:05.44.
The Gophers return to action on Saturday, May 2, for the start of the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Juniata College.
