Martin Claims First, Breaks Record at Landmark Championships
HUNTINGDON, PA- The Goucher College Gophers Men's Track & Field team competed on day two of the Outdoor Landmark Championships, hosted by Juniata College. Mark Martin highlighted the day by breaking his own school record.
In the field events, Martin set a new school record in the triple jump with a mark of 13.69 meters, earning a first-place finish. This marks the second time this season that he has broken his own record.
On the track, Jair Smith secured an eighth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.42. He was joined by Jayden Keels, who placed tenth in 1:58.59. Willie Lamb competed in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:01.41. Rounding out the competition, the 4x400-meter relay team of Joel Lukoo, Antoine Padonou, Lamb, and Smith posted a time of 3:32.70 to earn seventh place.
The Gophers will return to action on Saturday, May 9th, when they close out their season at the ECAC Track & Field Championships, hosted by McDaniel College.
