Gophers Conclude Season with Multiple Season Bests
WESTMINSTER, MD - The Goucher College men's track & field team traveled to McDaniel College to compete in the ECAC Championships on Saturday. The meet was highlighted by a broken school record, along with multiple podium finishes off season best performances.
The 4x800m relay team, consisting of Jayden Keels, Willie Lamb, Joel Lukoo, and Jair Smith, kicked off the morning for the Gophers with a season best and a new school record. They finished the race in 8:10.15. This broke the record that the team set two months prior by seven seconds. Along with this, the 4x400m relay team featuring Lamb, Smith, Lukoo, and Antoine Padonou set a season-best time of 3:30.05 for a fourth-place finish.
In addition to the relays, the Gophers had multiple strong finishes during the individual races. Goucher saw Padanou finish fifth in the 110m hurdle finals, with a season-best time of 16.87. In the 400m hurdles, Lamb finished fifth with a time of 59.23, and Padanou added a personal best time of 1:01.60 for an eighth-place finish. Smith earned second in the 800m with a time of 1:58.47, and Keels also added a second-place finish in the 1500m (4:06.37). Rounding out the track races was Dawson Burnett-Paul, who earned fourth in the 3000m Steeple with a time of 12:32.64.
In the field events, Mark Martin earned a fifth-place finish of 13.04m in the triple jump and added a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.54m.
The ECAC Championships conclude the 2026 outdoor season for the Gophers. The team will return to action in the winter for the Indoor season.
