Goucher Runners Get Look at Course for Regionals
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Goucher outperformed seven other teams to finish in 32nd place today at the Paul Short Invitational, which was conducted on the same course that head coach John Caslin's runners will tackle again on Nov. 10 for the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Goucher outperformed seven other teams to finish in 32nd place today at the Paul Short Invitational, which was conducted on the same course that head coach John Caslin's runners will tackle again on Nov. 10 for the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships.
The first runner from Goucher to cross the finish line was sophomore Zach Martin (Victor, NY/Victor Central), who completed the 8,000-meter race in 28:18 and 118th place.
Goucher didn't have another runner come in until sophomore Sean Mack (Albany, NY/Albany) in 199th place. Mack turned in a time of 29:33.
The other three runners who figured in Goucher's team score were bunched closely together, led by freshman Charlie Rooney (Sea Bright, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) in 207th place with a time of 29:57. Freshmen Adam Scipione (Walpole, MA/Walpole) and Brendan Ference (Smallwood, NY/Monticello) finished back-to-back in 218th and 219th place, respectively. Scipione's time of 30:12 was :03 faster than Ference.
The individual champion was Tommy Pearson from West Chester and the runner-up was David Chorney from Muhlenberg. Pearson's winning time was 25:45, giving him a :15 victory over Chorney.
Dickinson captured the team title with 119 points. Bloomsburg and Johns Hopkins shared second place with 148 points apiece, followed by Muhlenberg (194 points) in fourth and Ithaca (234) in fifth.
