Goucher's Men's Program Earns Academic Recognition
NEW ORLEANS, La. Goucher's men's cross country program was recognized today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes in 2009.
USTFCCCA Award for Minimum Cumulative Team GPA of 3.10
NEW ORLEANS, La. — Goucher's men's cross country program was recognized today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the academic accomplishments of its student-athletes in 2009.
According to a USTFCCCA announcement, Goucher was one of a record 110 Division III men's cross country programs nationwide that qualified for the organization's All-Academic Team Award which honors those in which the entire active roster attains a 3.10 or higher grade-point average. The combined GPA of Goucher's male runners during the fall semester was 3.37.
During the 16 years John Caslin has been head coach of Goucher's cross country programs, his squads have earned a total of 22 All-Academic Team Awards — the one today was the 11th for his men.
Goucher is one of only two schools in the Landmark Conference from which the men's cross country program qualfied for the All-Academic Team Award for 2009.
