MADISON, N.J. – Student-athletes from Goucher were selected
Players of the Week in the Landmark Conference in the sports of
women's lacrosse and women's tennis for March 16-22, according to
an official release by the conference today.
For women's lacrosse, the weekly award went to senior midfielder Marlo Tersigni (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy), who tallied a career-high seven goals and handed out four assists in the Gophers' 22-13 victory over Sewanee on March 18. Two days later, she turned in a five-goal, three-assist performance in a 17-3 triumph over Dallas.
In the two games, Tersigni was also credited with winning eight draws, latching onto eight ground balls and forcing 11 opponent turnovers.
The weekly honoree for women's tennis is freshman Mara Bergman (Summit, N.J./Summit), who went 2-0 in singles play starting with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Kristin Dono from Roger Williams during Goucher's 6-3 victory over the Hawks on March 17.
Against Drew on March 21, the Gophers and Rangers were locked in a 4-4 tie, leaving the outcome riding on the No. 6 singles match between Bergman and Amber Cicardo. Bergman, who is 9-3 in singles play this season, came back from being down a set to register a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 win that allowed head coach Sally Baum's squad to get off to a 1-0 start in the Landmark Conference.
