NEW ORLEANS, La. – Because of a combined cumulative GPA
surpassing 3.0, Goucher's women's track and field program has been
designated a 2009 All-Academic Team by the United States Track
& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
A total of 100 women's track and field programs from Division III
institutions throughout the nation were recognized today by the
USTFCCCA. The honor of being an All-Academic Team goes to programs
in which the entire active roster attains a combined GPA of at
least 3.0. At the conclusion of the 2008-09 academic year, the
student-athletes who made up head coach John Caslin's women's track
and field roster were carrying a combined GPA of 3.42.
This is the sixth consecutive year in which Caslin's women
qualified for the All-Academic Team award from the USTFCCCA.
"It's quite an honor to be one of only two schools in the Landmark Conference to be recognized by the track and field coaches for outstanding academic achievement," commented Geoff Miller, Goucher's athletic director. "Under Coach Caslin, our track and cross country programs have achieved a tremendous amount of academic success over the years."
