Annual Midnight Madness Event Set for Tuesday Night

TOWSON, Md. — Basketball season is right around the corner, and Goucher will host its annual Midnight Madness event this Tuesday night at the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.

Doors will open at 11:15 p.m., and free food will once again be provided by Hooters and Gino’s Burgers & Chicken. There will also be free t-shirts waiting to be handed out to 50 lucky students in attendance.

The action moves into the gym shortly after 11:30, when knockout and relay race competitions will take place. The women’s lacrosse team will also take on selected challengers from the crowd in pickup games, and there will be performances from several of Goucher’s dance teams.

Fans will then be introduced to the men’s and women’s swim teams, followed by the men’s and women’s basketball programs. Each basketball team will take part in scrimmages, and the night concludes with a slam dunk competition.

A $100 gift card to Bubba’s will be distributed to the residence hall with the most students in attendance, while the most-represented athletic team will be given a $100 Hooters gift card. The Gopher will also be on hand giving away additional gift cards to those in the bleachers.

The women’s basketball regular season gets underway with a 2 p.m. home matchup against Valley Forge Christian on Nov. 15 (click here for the full 2014-15 schedule). The men, meanwhile, get things started at Division I Howard on Nov. 16 (full schedule available here).
