Gladney, Gallina, Smith And Wheeler Register Third-Place Standings To Power Goucher Track And Field At Mini-Dip Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. – Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall), Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS) and Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) each recorded a third-place standing to pace the Goucher College track and field team at the Mini-Dip Invitational on Friday.

Gladney notched two Top-6 finishes, powered by a third-place standing in the shot put thanks to registering an 11.77m on his fourth attempt. The sophomore also finished sixth in the weight throw after tossing 10.48m on his fifth chance for the Gopher men.

Smith was third in the 200m with a time of 28.14 and finished fifth in the long jump after posting a 4.79m on her third attempt. Gallina also tallied a third and sixth on the evening. The senior placed third in the 60m with a time of 8.46 and sixth in the 200m with a time of 29.03. Wheeler was third in the 500m with a time of 1:34.56 and eighth in the 300m with a time of 50.25 for the Goucher women.

Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La./Louise S McGehee) was fourth in the pole vault. She got over the 2.94m height in her first attempt and then fouled her three chances at 3.10m to finish in a three-way tie for fourth after two other competitors notched the same results. Blazek also placed 13th in the 60m (8.87).

Along with Gladney on the men's throwing side, Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) placed fifth in the weight throw after his first attempt of 10.86m was his best mark and finished sixth in the shot put thanks to his last throw of 10.46m. Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School) was seventh in the weight throw with a fourth-attempt toss of 10.46m.

Also on the women's side, Michell Wolinsky was 11th in the 200m (30.44) while Shayla Mclish (21st place, 32.79) and Zoe Mitchener (24th place, 38.00) also competed in the 200m. Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa./Northeastern) finished 11th in the 60m (8.78) and missed the finals by 0.10 seconds while Isabel Srour (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was 24th in the mile run (6:57.08).

The meet marked the Goucher coaching debut of Erick Camodeca, who was named the cross country/track and field head coach in November.

Goucher returns to action at the Alvernia PLEX Shootout on February 8.
