THE MEET SCOOP

The Gophers will compete in their third meet of the season. At the same event last year, several athletes shined brightly for Goucher and hope to do the same again this year. Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La./Louise S McGehee) won the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.59m. The women's 4x400-meter relay (which included Blazek, Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS), Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall)) finished first to pace the Goucher College track and field teams at the Third Annual Larry Sharpe Memorial.

LAST TIME OUT

Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La./Louise S McGehee), Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), and the 4 X 200m relay team were the top finishers for the Goucher College track and field team at the Alvernia PLEX Shootout on Saturday. Blazek tied for seventh place in the pole vault by reaching the 3.05m mark. She also ran the 60m in 8.94 to get 33rd. Gallina also ran the 60m and finished tenth. Her time was 8.50. In addition, she ran the 200m in 29.20 to place 31st. Gallina, plus Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa./Northeastern), Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS), and Michell Wolinsky together ran 1:55.95 in the 4 X 200m relay to gain sixth.
