NATIONALS BOUND: Carter Hinton-Ayodele Qualifies for NCAA Nationals in Triple Jump
TOWSON, Md. - Carter Hinton-Ayodele (Bowie, Md./Bowie), a first-year member of the Goucher College women's indoor track and field team, has qualified for next weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the triple jump. Hinton-Ayodele becomes the first Goucher track and field student-athlete to qualify for indoor nationals in program history.
The 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for Friday and Saturday March 11-12 at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The women's triple jump competition will be held on Saturday at 11 am.
Hinton-Ayodele enters the championship ranked No. 11 in Division III with their program-record mark of 11.84 meters, set at the Landmark Conference Championship last weekend. The top 20 athletes in each event qualify for nationals in women's events.
Hinton-Ayodele has enjoyed a record-breaking season, setting program records in both the triple jump and long jump (5.33 meters). They won both events at the Landmark Championship and were named the conference's Field Performer of the Meet as well as Rookie of the Meet. Hinton-Ayodele's mark in the triple jump also set the Landmark indoor championship record, a mark that had been last set in 2013.
