Goucher to Host 2023 ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College has been selected to serve as the host of the 2023 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The one-day event will take place on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Gopher Stadium, with field events beginning at 11 am and track events starting at 2 pm.
"Coming off winning the 2022 ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship we are excited to serve as host this year, and hopefully share that experience with our campus community," said Goucher head track and field coach Erick Camodeca '06. "We feel moving the meet a week earlier in the schedule, our location, and moving to a one-day formar will bring in even more competition and add to the championship atmosphere."
The top 16 declared entries in each event qualify for the ECAC Division III Championship, with all ECAC Division III members eligible.
Goucher captured the ECAC women's outdoor track and field championship last season, its first as an ECAC member. With 108 points, the Gophers outdistanced New Jersey City University and Rutgers-Camden to capture the title. Goucher also had three individual and one relay champioship at the meet.
Gopher Stadium, opened in the fall of 2000, serves as the home of the Goucher track and field teams. The facility has hosted two Landmark Conference Championships, most recently in 2019, and one Capital Athletic Conference Championship. Gopher Stadium also annually hosts the Goucher Blue and Gold Classic.
The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-year old organization with well over 200 members schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III - that exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics, and provide great value for universities and colleges, by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast. Most of the ECAC's members also belong to another conference, which is often the school's primary conference.
