Covington Sets Two Throws Records at Alvernia Rust Buster
READING, Pa. - Goucher College men's track and field first year Nehemiah Covington took a pair of first place finishes and set two indoor school records at the season-opening Alvernia Rust Buster at the Flynn Plex on Saturday.
Covington took first place in the men's shot put and in the weight throw on Saturday. In the shot put, he had a top toss of 14.22 meters to break the previous record of 12.62 meters set by Joel Gladney in 2022. In the weight throw, Covington recorded a mark of 13.97 meters to top the previous record of 13.51 meters established by Darby Bauer in 2019.
First year Max McCoy placed second in the women's shot put with a toss of 11.06 meters. In the women's weight throw Ja'Kiya Allen was sixth with an 11.26 meter throw. McCoy finished eighth with a 10.93 meter effort.
