Gophers Host ECAC Championship Track Meet
Towson, Md.- Goucher hosted the ECAC Championship Track meet. The Championship meet also featured the team's senior recognition. The meet featured nine other schools and a lot of competition. Jair Smith gets in the top three of the men's 1500 with second place. He hit a personal record with his run of 4:14.80. Jayden Keels had a had a great performance in the men's 800-meter clinching second place with a time of 1:56.62. In the women's 800 meter Skye Washington hit a season best and earned fourth place with a time of 2:39.68.
The women's 4x400 meter hit a season best with a time of 3:47.06. This is the new Division III number 15 after the team of Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw, Tamryn Thornton-Fillyaw, Terrica Thornton-Fillyaw, and Nancy Nyadongo run. In the women's shot put Max McCoy had a second place finish with a throw of 11.13 meters. Ava Cox landed a season best in the women's javelin throw. She also clinched fourth in the women's hammer throwing 36.10 meters. She was joined by Ja'Kiya Allen in seventh place and Max McCoy in eighth. In the men's 400 meter Emmanuel Olarewaju placed in the top eight with a personal record. Freshman, Nehemiah Covington, placed sixth in the men's discus with a throw of 36.41 meters. Allen also had a sixth place finish in the women's discus.
