Conference's Seventh-Leading Scorer, No. 3 Rebounder in 2009-10
MADISON, N.J. — Been there. Done that.
Goucher's Amber Smith (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre
Dame) was named a second-team forward on the 2009-10
All-Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Team, a repeat honor
from a year ago when she was as a junior.
Smith is one of 12 student-athletes chosen in balloting by the conference's eight head coaches to be on the third annual All-Landmark Team, which was unveiled today. Five of the 12, including Smith, are seniors; seven of the 12, including Smith, earned All-Landmark Conference honors previously in 2007-08 and/or 2008-09.
Smith ranked third in the Landmark Conference in 2009-10 in rebounding and steals (2.54 per game), fifth in blocked shots (1.08 per game) and seventh in scoring. She averaged 11.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in her final season with the Gophers and is one of only three players in the history of Goucher's women's basketball program to surpass 1,000 points and 700 rebounds during her career. In addition, she's the program's all-time leader in blocked shots with 82.
