Skid Continues Despite Kollock's 19-Point Performance
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Precious Kollock (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) tallied 19 points, more than any Goucher player has scored in any game so far this season, and two of her teammates were in double figures, but the Gophers still weren't able to snare that elusive first win of 2010-11. Instead, Susquehanna, which had only one double-digit scorer, came out on top in tonight's Landmark Conference affair, 67-58.
von Ende, Lambert Also Turn In Double-Digit Scoring Efforts
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Precious Kollock (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) tallied 19 points, more than any Goucher player has scored in any game so far this season, and two of her teammates were in double figures, but the Gophers still weren't able to snare that elusive first win of 2010-11. Instead, Susquehanna, which had only one double-digit scorer, came out on top in tonight's Landmark Conference affair, 67-58.
Kollock's first points of the contest were off a made jumper that put the Gophers (0-10, 0-2 Landmark) ahead 9-6 after 7:11. The freshman guard was also fouled on the play and hit the free throw to give Goucher a four-point advantage.
The Crusaders (7-6, 2-0 Landmark) seized control of the game with a run of 12 unanswered points that provided them with a 24-14 lead. The two teams remained separated by 10 points at the end of the first half, 31-21, in Susquehanna's favor.
It took the Crusaders only 3:38 at the outset of the second half to double their lead as Amarra Boone's successful jumper made the score 41-21. The Gophers were still down 18 with 1:26 left to play before they reeled off the final nine points of the contest.
Eleven different players contributed to Susquehanna's point total, but only Erika Barron scored in double figures as she nailed four 3-point field goals on the way to a 14-point endeavor.
Elizabeth von Ende (Leawood, Kan./American Hebrew Academy), who has missed five games this season, backed up Kollock's performance by scoring 15 points. Taquasia Lambert (Brooklyn, N.Y./Patapsco) chipped in with 13 points.
The Crusaders finished with a narrow 42-39 edge in rebounds, but Goucher's Hannah Brown (Pinedale, Wyo./Dunn School) was the only player on either team to reach double figures as she grabbed 10 boards.
