Rangers Avenge Earlier Four-Point Loss to Gophers
TOWSON, Md. — Leia Roberts-Brown (Capitol Heights, Md./Archbishop Carroll), the only senior on Goucher's 2010-11 roster, tallied a team-high 11 points in the final home game of her career this evening, but it wasn't enough to lead the Gophers to a Landmark Conference victory over Drew.
Team-High 11 Points for Roberts-Brown in Final Home Game
TOWSON, Md. — Leia Roberts-Brown (Capitol Heights, Md./Archbishop Carroll), the only senior on Goucher's 2010-11 roster, tallied a team-high 11 points in the final home game of her career this evening, but it wasn't enough to lead the Gophers to a Landmark Conference victory over Drew.
Instead, the Rangers were able to avenge a 55-51 loss to Goucher back on Jan. 14, by knocking off head coach Didi Cotton's Gophers, 64-38, in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.
Roberts-Brown gave Goucher its final lead of the contest when she knocked down a medium-range jumper to snap an 11-11 tie with 7:20 left to play in the first half. Three posessions later, Drew went ahead to stay on a 3-point basket by Whitney Mackay.
The Rangers (10-14, 3-10 Landmark) outscored the Gophers, 11-2, over the final 3:47 of the first half to take a 30-20 advantage to the locker room at the break.
The Gophers (3-19, 3-10 Landmark) fell behind by as many as 29 points in the second period.
Although she tallied only five points in the first half, Jessica Reid finished as the leading scorer as she supplied the Rangers with 14 points. and nine rebounds.
Elizabeth von Ende (Leawood, Kan./American Hebrew Academy) and Precious Kollock (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) furnished the Gophers with 10 points apiece.
The 11-point effort by Roberts-Brown represented her eighth double-digit scoring performance of the season and the 23rd of the senior guard's career at Goucher,
