Game Played Within Seven Point Window for 22:49

TOWSON, Md. — In a game that featured nine ties and eight lead changes, nationally-ranked Moravian closed well to earn a hard-fought win.

Moravian (12-1, 3-0 Landmark) scored the first six points of the game to charge out to an early lead before Goucher (4-8, 0-2 Landmark) managed to get on the scoreboard, starting a hotly contested first half.

TaQuasia Lambert (Brooklyn, N.Y./Patapsco) made the three baskets for the hosts, the third of which cut the Moravian lead to 8-6, setting up a lengthy exchange of baskets.

From Lambert's bucket with 14:35 remaining in the first half until 11:46 remaining in the second half, neither team grew a lead of more than three points. This battle created just under 23 consecutive minutes of single-possession leads, including nine ties.

Once Moravian scored five straight points to finally get the lead to four with 11:46 remaining, Goucher could never recover.

The Gophers were held to just four points over the game's final 5:34, turning a close game to a 55-44 scoreline that was not indicitive of the game's competitiveness.

The leading scorer was Alexis Wright of Moravian, who added a game-high 14 rebounds to her 17 points. Wright contributed three blocks as well.

Goucher's lone double-digit scorer was Sharnell Huff (Bowie, Md./Bowie) with 10. Olivia Nono (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) had a career-high 12 rebounds, exceeding the 11 she had in Goucher's loss to Penn St. Harrisburg earlier this week.
