Gophers Trail Throughout in Home Loss to Eagles

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher fell behind early in tonight's Landmark matchup against Juniata, and the Gophers were never able to get into the game as the Eagles cruised to a 72-41 win at the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.

India Perkins (Brentwood, Md./Bladensburg) finished with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, giving the junior guard her first-ever double-double, but little else went right for Goucher (4-14, 0-10 Landmark), which shot 25 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from the free throw line.

Juniata (7-12, 5-5 Landmark), meanwhile, hit 47.5 percent of its attempts from the floor while also holding a commanding 60-35 advantage in rebounds. Kelsey Livoti totaled a game-high 19 points on 8 of 11 shooting, and she additionally grabbed eight boards in the victory. Rachael Anstine added eight points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

The Eagles jumped out to a 13-2 lead through the first 5:18 of the first half, and they slowly increased that margin the rest of the way. It was 38-18 heading into the intermission, and the Gophers trailed by as many as 34 points after the break. Juniata's strong shooting from the field helped offset 21 turnovers and a 12 of 24 shooting performance from the free throw line.

Dominique White (Lubbock, Texas/Potomac Falls) also reached double figures for Goucher, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and finishing with 10 points overall. White has now scored 10 or more points five times this season.

The Gophers remain at home for their next contest, a 5 p.m. tilt against Merchant Marine this Saturday. Both teams will be looking for their first conference win of 2014-15. Goucher defeated the Mariners in each of the teams' two matchups last season.
