Women’s Basketball Gearing Up for Season
First-year head coach Andrea Preston is working for the Gopher squad through pre-season practices to get ready for the 2017-2018 women’s basketball campaign.

TOWSON, Md. - First-year head coach Andrea Preston is working for the Gopher squad through pre-season practices to get ready for the 2017-2018 women's basketball campaign. Preston is a very accomplished coach who will be working with the team to try and improve on last year's 4-20 record.
Top returning players for Goucher include sophomore forward Katie Pacak (Annandale, Va.), who averaged 8.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last year; junior guard Nailah Jones (Glenn Dale, Md.), and sophomore guard Kerry Chun (Honolulu, Hi.). Coach Preston is evaluating the new players during the preseason to see what they might be able to contribute.
Coach Preston says "it's definitely going to be a challenging season for all of us though I am looking forward to working every day and making progress toward a strong finish. We'll be resilient and face every challenge head-on. As long as we can stay relatively injury free we will make some great strides toward becoming a more competitive and balanced team. So far the team is working very hard to get better and taking advantage of every opportunity they have to be in the gym or weight room."
The Gophers open up their season with a home game against Shenandoah at the Decker Center on November 15 at 5:30 pm.
