BALTIMORE, Md - Junior forward Nicole Wolard (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) posted her third career double-double (13 points, 15 rebounds) for the Goucher College women's basketball team on Saturday at Notre Dame, as the host Gators captured a 56-32 victory over the Gophers.
With the defeat, Goucher dropped to 0-9 overall on the year, while Notre Dame improved to an even 3-3 with the victory.
In the game, Goucher and Notre Dame played a defensive-friendly first period, in which Notre Dame scored the first 11 points, followed by nine straight by the Gophers to cut the Gator lead down to 11-9 after 10 minutes of regulation.
But, in the second quarter, Notre Dame outscored Goucher, 20-10, to go up 31-19 entering halftime. Like the first period, the third quarter was low-scoring, as the Gophers outscored the Gators, 7-5, to trail by 10 (36-26) entering the fourth quarter.
In the final frame, Notre Dame put the game out of Goucher's reach, as a 12-0 run by the Gators put them up for good at 48-28. From there, Notre Dame coasted, taking a 24-point win at home over the Gophers.
Overall, Wolard continued her solid play on the year inside for Goucher in the defeat with her 13 point, 15 rebound effort.
For the seventh time this season, Wolard went into double-figures in the scoring department, while the 15 'boards bested her previous career-high of 12 against Hood last month (Nov. 18). Wolard also pulled down six offensive rebounds in the defeat, as well.
Elsewhere, junior Nailah Jones (Glenn Dale, Md./Parkdale) had 11 points, marking the sixth time on the year she has gone into double-figures in the scoring department.
The Goucher College women's basketball team will now be idle for the week for exams, returning to action on Saturday, Dec. 16 at home against Stevenson. The Alumnae Day contest tips-off at 1 p.m. a the Decker SRC Arena.
