Goucher Falls Short After Dominant First Half By Catholic

TOWSON, Md. - The Catholic Cardinals (14-2 Overall; 7-2 Conference) pulled ahead of the Goucher College Gophers (11-5 Overall; 4-5 Conference) with a dominant first half, and never looked back in the 96-58 Landmark Conference win at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- Meona Boykin begun the scoring for the Gophers, pulling them to a 2-0 lead, she continued to score the next five points as well.
- The Cardinals pulled ahead early, finsihing 65% of their shots and all six freethrows.
- Nia Edens added two for the Gophers following a steal with 4:08 remaining in the quarter.
- Catholic extended their lead to 23 points ending the quarter ahead 36-13.
- The Cardinals added five point early in the second quarter (8:28).
- A made free throw by Merci Turner ended the scoring run, but the Cardinals followed up with a 13-point run.
- Amira Whitaker capped this run with made jump shot with 3:46 remaining on the clock.
- Shortly after, Lelia Townsend added the Gophers first made 3-pointer in the game.
- A layup by Boykin ended the half, the Cardinals leading 60-26.
- Chi Igwe added three points early in the half for the Gophers.
- With 6:11 on the clock, Briyah Haggins made a three to cut the lead for the Cardinals.
- Nia George added points for the Gophers, with just over three minutes remaining.
- Points by Sanai Knox and Lauryn Towns ended the quarter for the Gophers, with Catholic ahead 83-42.
- Catholic scored the first five points in the final quarter, capped by a 3-pointer from Whitaker.
- The four minute scoreless drought in the game was ended by a free throw from Catholic quickly followed by freethrows from Whitaker.

- The Gophers outscored the Cardinals 8-4 in the remainder of the game.
- Boykin led the Gophers with 15 points on the night, she also collected two steals and eight rebounds.
- Whitaker also finished in double digits with 12 points, one steal, and six rebounds.
- Catholic outrebounded Goucher 57-44, and scored 26 points off 32 turnovers. Goucher finished 24 points off the 33 turnovers.
- Goucher shot 22.2% in the game, going 3-23 beyond the arc, they went 65.7% from the freethrow line.
- The Cardinals shot 47.8% on the night, going 11-27 from the three-point line, and finishing 19-30 from the charity stripe.
- Goucher remains home and faces Drew University in the first game of the double header set to tip off at 2pm.
