Etown Defeats Gophers in Convincing Win

TOWSON, Md. - Steady scoring from the Elizabethtown Blue Jays (19-3 Overall; 13-2 Conference) propelled them to 121-85 victory over the Goucher College Gophers (13-9 Overall; 6-9 Conference) in the Landmark Conference matchup.
- Lauryn Towns scored first for the Gophers following the first basket from Elizabethtown.
- The Blue Jays opened early with a 9-2 run, capped by a driving layup from Amira Whitaker (6:35), who drew the foul for an additional shot.
- Sanai Knox added point for the Gopher off an offensive rebound with just under four minutes remaining in the quarter.
- Etown extended their lead with an 11 point run, ended by Towns who scored the final basket in the quarter to bring the score to 15-29.
- Chi Igwe added a basket, responding to the opening points from Elizabethtown (9:21).
- A three-pointer by Nia Edens began to cut the lead for the Blue Jays.
- Meona Boykin ended the 8-1 run in favor Etown with just over half of the quarter remaining. Boykin then added the next five points for the Gophers.
- Edens ended the half with a buzzer beater three-point shot to bring the score to 36-62 (Etown) at the half.
- Towns kicked off Gouchers scoring with a driving layup just 30 seconds into the half.

- Towns and Edens also recorded double digits, with 16 (Towns) and 14 (Edens) each.
- The Blue Jays outrebounded the Gophers 66-30, they also collected 36 points off the 38 turnovers. While the Gophers added 31 off the 29 turnovers.
- Elizabethtown shot 57% on the night, going 6-15 beyond the arc, and 25-29 from the charity stripe.
- Goucher shot 37.9% in the contest, shooting 24% from the three-point arc, and shooting 54.2% from the free throw line.
- The Gophers travel to Juniata, where the women will be the first game in the double header, set to tip off at 2pm.
- The women return home for their senior game on February 22nd to face Wilkes. They will be the first game of the double header to begin at 2pm in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
