Three Gophers Named to CSC Academic All-District
BALTIMORE, MD – The Goucher College women's basketball team had three players named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, announced today by the organization.
The CSC Academic All-District honor recognizes student-athletes who excel both athletically and academically. To be eligible, nominees must be at least a sophomore academically, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, and be key contributors to their team.
A senior from Crofton, Maryland, Leila Townsend, served as one of the leaders on the young team. She appeared in all 25 games for the Gophers, starting in 19 games. She shot 29.5% from the floor, while going 31.3% from beyond the arc. She added 70.4% from the free throw line. In the classroom, Townsend is majoring in Communications while minoring in Political Science. She has maintained a 3.50 GPA.
A sophomore from Laurel, Maryland, Nia George played an important role for the Gophers during the 2025 season. She appeared in 24 games while starting in 19 of them. She shot 29.2% from the floor and beyond the arc, while adding 4.2 rebounds per game. In the classroom, George is majoring in Sports Management with a Business minor, while maintaining a cumulative 3.75 GPA. This award follows her Academic All-District award during the fall for women's soccer.
The final member of the team named to the All-District team is Sanai Knox. The sophomore from Havre de Grace, Maryland, was one of the standout returners for the program. Knox appeared in all 25 games for the team, while starting in all but three. She shot 31.8% from the floor, while going 38.9% from the free-throw line. She added 6.9 rebounds per game. A Communications major with a minor in Spanish, Knox has maintained a 3.97 GPA, exemplifying the program's commitment to academic excellence while balancing the demands of collegiate basketball.
