Bio

Maggie McElroy returns to the Goucher women’s basketball staff in 2015-16 for her second season as a graduate assistant coach. McElroy came to the Gophers after a four-year playing career at Cabrini, a stint which included back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in her final two seasons.

McElroy appeared in 71 games overall for the Cavaliers, serving as a co-captain on last year’s squad which went 24-5 and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament last March. Cabrini went 31-1 in Colonial States Athletic Conference games over the last two years, winning the CSAC title each season.

Off the court, McElroy participated in a wide range of activities for the athletic department. She worked as a strength and conditioning intern last fall, assisting with athletic team training programs and working one-on-one with athletes. She was also a game staff and facilities assistant, and after serving on Cabrini’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for three years, she was elevated to co-president of the organization in 2013-14.

McElroy was also active on Cabrini’s Relay for Life committee, and she volunteered for the Martin Luther King Basketball Clinic, Special Olympics Delaware County and Athletes Helping Athletes while attending her undergrad institution.

A three-time CSAS All-Academic team member, McElroy graduated from Cabrini with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and health promotion. At Goucher, she is working towards her master’s degree in athletic program leadership and administration.
