Women's Golf Opens Season with Second Place Finish at Gettysburg Tri-Match

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - The Goucher College women's golf team opened their 2018-19 season on Friday at the Fox Hollow Golf Club, taking on host Gettysburg and Catholic in a tri-match.

On the day, the Gophers posted a combined team score of 385 to edge host Gettysburg by two shots to finish second in the match. Catholic finished on top on the day, posting a team score of 376.

Individually, Goucher sophomore Christina Pevey (Post, Texas) - who was an All-Landmark Conference First Team selection in 2018 - picked up where she left off last year, taking individual medalist honors with an 84 to best Catholic's Mary Colella by four shots for the top spot.

Elsewhere on the day for the Gophers, sophomore Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore.) finished ninth overall, carding a 98, while first-year Danielle Pena (Montgomery, Texas) posted a 99 in her first collegiate round to place ninth overall on the day.

The Goucher College women's golf team returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 as they travel to Fox Hollow Country Club in Branchburg, N.J. for the Landmark Conference Fall Invitational.
