STAFFORD, Va. – Christina Pevey (Post, Texas/Post) finished 13th to power Goucher College women's golf to a sixth-place standing after the first round of the Eagle Invitational on Saturday.
Purvey posted an 86 in the first round to sit in 13th place, 11 strokes behind the current leader.
Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore./South Medford) (19th place, 89), Danielle Pena (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery) (25th place, 94), Lauren O'Leary (Potomac, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) (33rd place, 102) and Kiana Haskin (Waitsfield, Vt./Harwood Union) (42nd place, 112) rounded out the Gophers competitors.
Marymount leads the two-day event with a score of 328, 28 strokes ahead of Shenandoah (346) while Washington & Jefferson (284), Catholic (362) and Randolph-Macon (368) round out the Top-5 teams. Goucher sits right outside the Top-5 in sixth place with a round of 370.
The Gophers return to action on Sunday in the final round of the Eagle Invitational.
